Geographical Position:

Volga is the longest river with the total length about 3.700 km. Starts in the upland of Valdai, passes through Yaroslavl, Nizhni Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Saratov, Volgograd (Tsaritsin), Astrakhan and mouths to the Kaspian sea with the wide delta.

Climate & Weather:

Climate is continental, it is characterized by cold and snowy winters, and warm summers.

Population:

The population is integrated by russian people. Totally more than 45 millions of residents.

Largest Cities:

Nizhni Novgorod, Astrakhan, Kazan, Volgograd, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Samara, Saratov.

Landscapes:

It is an important navigation canal which connects the Baltic Sea and White Sea (canal Volga-Baltic), with the Azov sea and Black Sea (canal Volga-Don).

Flora & Fauna:

It is very diverse. More than 300 species of auks, 100 species of fish (salmon, etc.), rare animals which are included in the Red Book.
